LARGE COLORFUL CROCHET FLOWER – FREE PATTERN

This pretty large colorful crochet flower is the first crochet pattern I made for one of my Etsy shop many years ago. Make you a good coffee and happy crocheting!

MATERIALS, NEEDED FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL CROCHET FLOWER:

Small amount of:

• Fuchsia cotton yarn (5 – 10 g)
• Green cotton yarn (5 – 10 g)
• Purple cotton yarn (5 – 10 g)
• Crochet hook Nº 3mm

ABBREVIATIONS:

• ch: chaine
• sc: single crochet
• sl st: slip stitch
• st: stitch
• hdc: half double crochet
• dc: double crochet

INSTRUCTIONS – HOW TO MAKE THIS COLORFUL CROCHET FLOWER:

The flower is made in 4 different layers.

First Layer (purple color):

Rnd 1: Make 6 ch, join into a ring. Make 14 sc in the ring. Join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2: ch 4, skip 1 sc, * 1 dc in next st, 2 ch, skip 1 sc, 1 dc in next st, 2 ch – repeat from * for each loop. Join with sl st. You have 7 loops or petals.

Rnd 3: Make ch 1, 4 dc in first loop, 1 sc in next loop, 4 dc in same loop – repeat for each loop, 7 times (you have 7 petals in this first layer).

Second Layer (fuchsia color):

Rnd 4: (BACK SIDE) Attach the yarn between first and last petal from previous Rnd, make ch 4, 1 sl st between 1 and 2 petals, ch 4, 1 sl st between 2 and 3 petals – repeat 7 times and you will have 7 new loops in this second layer. Join with sl st.

Rnd 5: (FRONT SIDE) Make 1 sc, 6 dc in first loop or petal, 1 sc in next loop, 6 dc – repeat for each loop, 7 times. You have 7 petals in fuchsia color.

Rnd 6: (BACK SIDE) Make 1 sl st between first and last petals of previous Rnd, ch 5, 1 sl st between 1 and 2 petals, ch 5 – repeat 7 times, you have 7 new petals for this layer in fuchsia color.

Rnd 7: (FRONT SIDE) Make ch 1, 12 sc in first loop or petal, 12 sc in next loop – repeat 7 times. Join with a sl st.

Third Layer (green color):

Rnd 8: (BACK SIDE) Make 1 sl st between first and last petals of previous Rnd, ch 7, 1 sl st between 1 and 2 petals, ch 7 – repeat 7 times, you have 7 new petals in this green layer. Join with a sl st.

Rnd 9: (FRONT SIDE) Make ch 1, 14 dc in first petal, 1 sc in next petal, 14 dc in same petal – repeat 7 times for each petal. Join with a sl st.

Fourth Layer (purple color):

Rnd 10: (BACK SIDE) Make 1 sl st between first and last petals of previous Rnd, 9 ch, 1 sl st between 1 and 2 petals, ch 9 – repeat 7 times, you have 7 new petals for this green layer. Join with sl st.

Rnd 11: (FRONT SIDE ) Make ch 1, 17 dc in first petal, 1 sc in next petal, 17 dc in same petal – repeat for each petal, 7 times. Join with sl st. Fasten off and secure ends.
